Love On The Rocks - “First” Bacon Infused Bourbon Launches

14 April, 2016

Unless your name is Jules and you work for Marsellus Wallace then you'll agree that bacon smells good, bacon tastes good and bacon downright makes everything "just a little better." Ol’ Major Bacon Bourbon (Formerly Bacon Bourbon USA) takes two of America’s greatest assets and challenges the boundaries of their potential by fusing them in the world’s first and original bottled bacon bourbon.

The project is the brain child of Nick and Zack Chen and in 2015 took in $37,285 from 105 backers to make this a reality. On August 18, 2015 the pair proudly announced "We just bottled our first run of Ol' Major Bacon Bourbon! The product looks and tastes fantastic!" As of today Ol' Major Bacon Bourbon is availble at 751 locations in the U.S. - view locations

The unique relationship is produced via pressure infusion. To get really geeky on you - the technique of pressure infusion relies on the phenomenon of cavitation to open the microstructure of solid ingredients and extract flavorful molecules into the surrounding liquid. You’ve seen cavitation at work before, it’s the process secretly assisting the blades of a blender each time you prepare a smoothie.

Yankee Bacon Capeta

The Capeta is a cocktail famous in Northeastern Brazil. Capeta translates to little devil, and it is named as such due to this cocktail’s ability to turn a classy cocktail party into an all-night rager.

1 1/2 ounce Ol’ Major Bacon Bourbon
1 teaspoon instant powdered chocolate milk mix, such as Quik
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 ounce milk
1⁄2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 piece of chocolate covered bacon
(The original Brazilian Capeta would add 1 teaspoon guarana protein powder, but we do not advise this addition. The combination of alcohol and caffeine can be dangerous to your health.)

Combine Ol’ Major Bacon Bourbon, St-Germain, lemon juice, diluted maple syrup, bitters, and egg white into a mixing glass and shake vigorously with ice.
Strain neat over a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a piece of chocolate covered bacon.
