The world’s first craft beer airline is cleared for takeoff

29 October, 2018

Independent craft brewer BrewDog is launching the first immersive craft beer airline flight experience 35,000 ft. in the air. All passengers will be treated to a unique experience from the food, to the entertainment, the cabin crew and most of all, the specially brewed high-altitude beer that specifically designed to taste it’s best at a mile high.

The first BrewDog Airlines flight takes off in February 2019 with a round-trip between London and Columbus, OH, the home of the Aberdeenshire brewery’s United States HQ and its craft beer hotel – The DogHouse.

Passengers onboard the chartered Boeing 767 will take part in unique beer tasting experience as they sample a limited-edition BrewDog beer that has been specifically brewed to adapt to the reduction of taste and smell sensitivity in high altitudes. Once the flight reaches Ohio, the guests will get to tour BrewDog’s state-of-the-art brewery, visit The DogHouse Hotel, and explore BrewDog’s dedicated beer museum. The round-trip flight will occur between February 21-25, 2019 and include a four-night stay in Columbus.

James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, said: “We took craft beer to the depths of the seas when we brewed an IPA at the bottom of the North Sea. Now, we’re turning to the skies aboard BrewDog Airlines. BrewDog Airlines will be an experience like no other.”

The caveat, tickets for the experience are exclusively available to BrewDog’s existing community of 90,000 Equity Punks. The price isn’t bad, around $1600,  which includes flights, excursions and accommodation at the DogHouse. If your in the U.S. it’s a bit of a stretch as the flight takes off from London so any state side fans looking to make the trek will need to one-way it across the pond first then one-way it back after the journey is over.

This is a promising venture though. While this may be a good headline grabbing stunt now, we can only hope that BrewDog is on to something and more craft beer flight excursions are in the near future. Maybe even with your own BrewDog Network and Four Sheets star Zane Lamprey?!
