Move Over Duff - The Beloved Show Inspires Minimalist Design For Wine

15 February, 2016

While we Simpsons fans associate Homer most with his love of Duff Beer, it seems the likeness of Homer and Marge are the inspiration behind a different beverage - wine. A few years ago Russian designers Constantin Bolimond and Dmitry Patsukevich unveiled their strikingly colorful 'Wine, or maybe not?' conceptual bottles, which were cleverly designed with the same color scheme as the beloved cartoon characters.

Each of the bottles features a cryptic description that reads: 'The drink was brought to life together with the cartoon characters in 1987. Maybe it is wine, maybe not. We are inviting you to find out yourselves. The contents have been kept secret for already 26 years now. While the ingredients remain the same, their proportions differ from time to time. That is why you will never get bored from this drink! We can assure you that you will not be left disappointed.'

Of course, the wine bottles are just a concept and aren't actually for sale - cue trombone "wah wah."

Twentieth Century Fox was unimpressed by the project and has accused Mr Bolimond and Mr Patsukevich of copyright infringement, citing intellectual property rights. Maybe they put the official "cease and desist" letter above their wine racks!  In any manner, this old story is still a lot of visual fun for us fans!
