Aside from the pride, glory, fame, respect and overwhelming sense of accomplishment, another perk of being an Olympic gold medalist is being invited to the the high-end Chinawhite club in the heart of London for an exclusive VIP area with a free Olympic cocktail that would normally run you about $3,000 (£2,012).
The cocktail consists of Hennessy Paradis Imperial cognac, Luxor 24-carat gold leaf Champagne, plus a set of handmade 18-carat gold rings placed in the bottom of the glass. Medalist are also treated to a bottle of Moët & Chandon Champagne, with sparklers coming out the top. We suspect a lot of sparklers to be lit when the games end this Sunday.
Not a bad gift for all those years of hard work and sacrifice. Just one more incentive to go for the gold.
