These Are The Drinks We Were Looking For - Oga's Cantina Coming To Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

04 September, 2018

Ever since we first met Han Solo in the Mos Eisley Cantina and jammed to the Cantina Song (seemingly on loop) we've wanted to have an intergalactic cocktail and mix it up with some of the scoundrels of space. Soon we can. When Disney's new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens in 2019 the village of Black Spire will be home to Oga's Cantina which will be serving pilots, bounty hunters, smugglers, locals and galactic travelers alike.

Officially announced on the Disney Parks Blog last week, Oga's Cantina is being boasted as a place where "visitors come to this notorious local watering hole to unwind, conduct shady business, and maybe even encounter a friend…or a foe. Run by an intriguing alien proprietor, Oga Garra, the cantina adheres to a strict code of conduct that tries to keep its unruly patrons in check. But with a history of being a smugglers’ safe haven and a popular stopping point for those seeking to avoid the authorities, you can bet that the cantina has a story or two to tell."

Beyond access to Club 33, it will be the first time the family-oriented park will ever serve alcohol. Because rule-breaking is just what Oga Cantina is all about. The post describes the "adult libations" that will be served as "concoctions created with exotic ingredients using 'otherworldly' methods, served in unique vessels."

We can here the haters now, yes, the drinks will more than likely be overpriced but it's comparabile to the Tiki Bar concept that continues to rage on. Why? Because it's fun. It's a brief esacpe from the ordinary and while you can get a pint or martini any day, how many times can you grab an quirky cocktail in a totally fun and submerssive themed bar!
