Aldi Gin & Whiskey’s have won awards for “2018 Best in the World” - all are under $25.

Why do we love this story so much? We love it because is just smashes the fact that you have to be an elitist, mega wealthy, aristocrat with crystal decanters to enjoy the finest spirts on the market. Aldi has not only been voted one of the best Gins in the world, for a second straight year, but now they own the crown for two of the best Whiskey's in the world too - all retail under $25.

Let's start with the Gin

Aldi’s $13 Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin has just won the award for one of the best gins in the world, for the second year in a row. After being named by the prestigious International Spirits Challenge (ISC) as one of the best gins in the world last year, the inexpensive gin has regularly sold out of Aldi stores.
We imagine it will now be near impossible to get your hands on a bottle - as the discount gin again takes its place in the list of top gins in the world.

Beating better known and much more expensive brands in the competition, including the renowned Sipsmith, Beefeater, and Gordon’s, the affordable gin has proven that it can compete against the best - after winning a gold medal at the spirits competition. BTW - Aldi’s Oliver Cromwell gin wasn’t the store’s only winner this year - the slightly more expensive $18 Topaz Premium Gin also proved its place in the gin world by taking home a silver medal.

The announcement comes just short of a year after the same award-winning bottle of gin won a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC).

And The Latest Win - Whiskey's

At the Spirits Business Scotch Whisky Masters, judges bestowed two gold medals on the Aldi brand—one for its Highland Black Scotch Whisky, and another for its Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. (They share the gold with other entrants.) The Highland Black has hints of heather, strawberry leaf, and lemon oil, and retails for $17. The Islay Single Malt is "fresh and zesty," and retails for $23.

Aldi's whisky also won gold medals last year at this competition.

What the hell is an Aldi?

In case you are not familir, Aldi is a discount supermarket chain with stores in more than 20 countries. This is not fake news.
