The Mint Rumney

6 oz light rum
12 mint sprigs (8 broken apart)
6 tbsp fresh lime juice
4 tbsp sugar
Club soda
4 lime slices

Fill your shaker with a moderate amount of ice and then add rum, 8 conservative-sized mint sprigs (broken up),lime juice and sugar. Shake well to combine and serve over ice in a highball glass. Top off each glass with a splash of club soda. Garnish with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint. While sipping, flip-flop between election coverage & PBS.

Obama Slammer

½ oz amaretto
½ oz vodka
½ oz sloe gin
½ oz Southern Comfort
½ oz grenadine
1 dash cranberry juice
1 dash hope
Orange juice

Pour a liberal amount of all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Cover, shake, and strain into a rocks glass. Make no mistake; this drink will go down easy

Paul Ry(e)an Old Fashioned

2 oz rye whiskey
1 tsp water
1 or 2 dashes Fee Whiskey Barrel-Aged Bitters
1 tsp sugar
2 orange slices
2 maraschino cherries

Muddle 1 cherry, 1 orange slice, the sugar, a budgeted amount of bitters, and water in a chilled Old Fashioned glass. In an effort to make significant cutbacks, remove the orange rind. Add the whiskey and ice; stir. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and orange slice. Turn on P90X and lift some weights between each sip.

Biden Time

(a twist on Top Chef Brian Malarkey’s Sage Sucker)
2 oz Ketel One Citroen
3 large sage leaves
3 lemon wedges
1 tsp honey
4 dashes Fee Brothers Peach Bitters
Lemon twist

Combine two 2 cubes, sage leaves, and lemon wedges in a mixing pint. Muddle until everything is really mixed up
and you can’t take it back. Add more ice to the top of the pint, then pour in vodka, honey and bitters. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds, strain, and serve in a martini glass.

Garnish with a lemon twist. Place your foot in your mouth mid-drink.

Where’s the Jill’s Stein? G. Johnson Collins? Whiskey on the Rocky Anderson? Goode and Plent-E? Why do people never represent all the candidates?
