Take advantage of this amazing one day sale and get the Pleepleus American White Oak Barrel for only $59 (original retail $85). But you have to act fast, this sale is for August 1st only! With this Pleepleus barrel you can age and flavor your own spirits to make great drinks that are well worth the wait. For those new to the idea, aging a liquor is a great way to refine the taste. Whiskey, scotch and even some rum and tequilas go through an aging process to help give the liquor a smoother taste. The oak barrels also add some extra natural flavors.
Here is what Zane Lamprey has to say about the Pleepleus barrel.
“Recently, I was at a bar called Mandarine Hide in St. Petersburg, Florida. They had an amazing cocktail where they took bourbon and sweet vermouth and aged them in a small oak barrel for two weeks. I was amazed at the result. When mixed over ice, it made for a super-mellow, very-drinkable instant cocktail. I knew then I had to find a way to get some of these barrels for my own home bar.
Thousand Oaks Barrels has been making barrels for home brewers for a while and they agreed to make a special one for me and my OpenSky followers. Made out of American white oak, it has a medium toast and a Pleepleus logo burned onto the front of it.
The first thing I tried to do with mine was age white rum. After about 3 weeks (the small size barrel means spirits age more quickly), I poured myself a glass. First, over the rocks to get a sense of the taste. Amazing. The rum had mellowed out and had become super-smooth. After that I tried the barrel-aged rum in a mojito. Now it’s what I give to friends when they come over to kick back at my place.
When you get yourself a Pleepleus oak barrel, you can experiment with whatever you wish. Age things for two weeks or four, or six—even a year. Experiment with rum, aged bourbon or tequila. Try re-using the rum barrel with whiskey afterwards. Have fun. Drink the results. That’s science you can believe in.”-Zane Lamprey
