Until 1973 Belize was named British Honduras. While this Central American country may have some strong British influences there are numerous cultures that have created an intriguing mix of fun. From African to Spanish to native influences, Belize is an adventurer’s paradise. Whether you’re exploring the Mayan temples, fishing in the beautiful coastline, or trying bizarre and exotic drinks, Belize is an experience beyond comparison. So get ready to explore the country and the people who are as warm and friendly as the climate.
WHERE WE WENT
- Maruba Jungle Spa — One of the grossest drinks featured on “Three Sheets” is the Viper Rum, a drink that starts as a snake in a bottle which is then drowned in rum. If you’re feeling daring or need to increase your sperm motility then this is the drink for you. To do the shot properly, take a piece of watermelon and roll it in sugar. Coat your tongue with sugar, then take the shot of Viper Rum and chase it with the watermelon chunk. There’s also the Scorpion (Stinger) Rum that’s made just for women. 40 1/2 Mile Old Northern Highway | Maskall Village, Belize, C.A.
- Belikin Brewery — As the national beer of Belize, this lager is the most widely consumed beer in Belize. Belikin meaning “road to the east” in Mayan has cornered 60% of the local beer market. #1 King Street | Belize City, Belize C.A.
- Wild Mango’s — Located on the island city of San Pedro, you can have some fresh lobster ceviche and a Mojito with a “secret” ingredient, Old Comiskey Triple Sec. Located at the South end of Barrier Reef Drive (Front St.) | Ambergis Caye, Belize, C.A.
- Wet Willy’s — Also in the Ambergris Caye District of San Pedro, Willies serves up beer, margaritas, and rum and cokes (made with the locally produced, 1 Barrel Rum) among other things. If you’re lucky, you might also find some Viper Rum on the bar shelf. Wet Willy’s Pier | Ambergis Caye, Belize, C.A.
- Local Market — Visit the local market for some Mr. P’s Cashew Wine. At around $4 per bottle, this 12% alcohol drink is fruity and sweet.
- Cholo’s — Get yourself a Lighthouse Lager, Belize’s 2nd most popular brew. Jewfish St. | San Pedro Town, Belize, C.A.
- BC’s Beach Bar & BBQ – After a night of drinking, order one of their Michelada’s, made with a mix of lemon juice, spices, hot sauce and beer. On the beach downtown | Ambergis Caye, Belize, C.A.
