Yep St. John and St. Thomas. Walking and driving with open containers as long as your not drinking and driving. Just getting from Point A with your beer to Point B.

Apologies, but that Old Fashioned recipe is the reason people stopped liking the cocktail in the 1st place! John Clay, formerly of Plymouth Gin & now at Bols, taught me this version, MUCH closer to a version that celebrates instead of destroying the bourbon;
3 shots good bourbon (I prefer Makers: 90 proof gives a perfect balance of sweetness & burn)
Angostura, peychaud OR orange bitters (test each & LEARN your preference the fun way :))
1 large bar spoon of cane sugar OR a sugar lump
An orange
Pour the sugar into an old fashioned glass. Soak with 5 shakes of your favoured bitters. Drench with 1 shot of bourbon & add a small ice cube. Stir with the end of a bar spoon until the ice cube is virtually melted away, then add another small cube & another shot. Repeat, then do it again one last time. Add a few ice cubes to the finished glass then zest the orange over the drink & cut off a piece of peel to add to the drink. Maybe wipe the peel on the rim for added flavour. DO NOT ADD A CHERRY.

Oh, and a sazerac is even better when tried with 50% sazerac rye, 50% cognac & zest a lemon over that bad boy. Beeyootiful!

Another cool trick for flaming shots and cocktails is, ahhh hell I'll just post one of my shot-tails.

The Agent.
1/3 oz Grenadine
1/3 oz Sambuca
1/2 oz Chartreuse
*Place a 1 oz shot glass onto a small plate
*Add the Grenadine and Samuba into the shot glass
*Take a secocnd shot glass and add the Chartreuse then light
*pour the Chartreuse into the first glass (making a fire water fall that over flows onto the plate)
Grab a cinnamon shaker and dump a bunch onto the flame (from about 1-1.5 feet above this give a wicked mushroom cloud of fire)
put the flames out with a pint glass
And drink every drop of booze through a straw.
Not for the faint hearted, if soberness persists please see your nearest Pint Pounder
