Is there anything better than candy that is infused with alcohol? Okay, well maybe the alcohol… But what about candy made with wine? The candy is made from orange rinds that are candied in fennel syrup and then tossed in sugar. The alcohol comes in from the container in which it is mixed and made. The containers are wine barrels that have a residue that is a byproduct of wine making called “Potassium Bitartrate.” This natural substance has been aged and fermented and the whole process turns the rinds into a gummy-like candy that tastes a bit sweet, with a somewhat tart tinge and a slight wine flavor. The candy is called Wild Fennel Candied Valencia Orange Rinds and is available here.
