Molecule in Milk, Beer May Help Reduce Weight Gain

June 12, 2012 0

A molecule found in milk and possibly beer may fight weight gain and give increased endurance without any hindering side effects. The molecule known as nicotinamide riboside, was given to mice for a research study published in journal Cell Metabolism . The study concluded that mice who were given the molecule compound gained less weight when fed a high fat diet than mice who were not given the compound. These mice with the magic molecule could also run longer and showed no adverse reactions to the treatment.

Right now the molecule can be found in milk, but it is suspected that it can also be found in beer.

“It really appears that cells use what they need when they need it, and the rest is set aside without being transformed into any kind of deleterious form,” study researcher Carles Canto said in a statement.
