Mead…Man’s First Drink

Mead is understood to be the oldest form of alcoholic substance to be regularly consumed by man and predates wine by ten to thirty thousand years. The reason being is because Mead’s ingredients are pretty simple – just honey, water, and yeast – and was  probably found naturally. When honey from bees would seep into holes in trees it would soon collect rain and the natural yeast in the area would feed on the sugars from the honey and create fermentation. Man eventually stumbled upon this fermented honey and boom, a nice sweet ‘buzz’.

Mead became a favorite drink of many warriors including Vikings who would drink it before battles for a quick buzz and a boost of sugar. Basically your vodka-redbull of the past.
