The Griffin pub in Warmley, Gloucestershire has the lofty distinction of what could be the most loyal customer in history. Arthur Reid has been in the Pub almost every day at 3pm for 72 years. Since turning 18 Arthur has taken his favorite seat and enjoyed a pint or two of Courage bitter and at the rich age of 90 years old he continues to do so.
‘I’ve been coming here a long time and hope that I can carry on for some more years to come.’ says Arthur.

Loyalty does come with it’s perks. He has a personalized glass behind the bar and on his recent birthday an engraved gold plaque was been placed on the back of his favourite chair.
Manageress Asia Matczak said: ‘He missed a couple of days last winter because of the bad weather, but usually, when it gets to around 3:30 and he’s not here, we’re like “Where’s Arthur?”‘
‘He is friends with everyone. He loves being listened to, and is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Arthur is a really good man.’
During his visits to the pub it is estimated he has spent over $134,046 on beer and is often consulted when new beers are added behind the bar.
Asia said ’I have employed Arthur to check out and test some of the brews I was thinking about having. If he didn’t like them, he’d tell me and I wouldn’t get them on tap.’
