Booze Keeps the Bed Bugs Away

Booze Keeps the Bed Bugs Away

June 5, 2012 1

Researchers have discovered that bed bugs do not like alcohol and will actually lay fewer eggs after consuming blood from a drunk host. So having a few drinks before bed could help you sleep tight and not let the bed bugs bite.

For those who don’t know, bed bugs are tiny blood sucking parasitic insects that are known to live in peoples beds. These little buggers will bite their unsuspecting victims while they sleep.

Ralph Narain, a New York entomologist now studying at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, performed the study and found that bugs who had a clean blood meal doubled in size and laid 44 eggs.

So booze it up to keep those bed bugs away.

Drinking martinis to ward off the little critters sounds too good to be true! Better to just get the exterminators in I think…
