A new study has found that abstaining from alcohol in your later years may increase the risk of dying. 1,824 participants between the ages 55 and 65 where studied over a course of 20 years. Of the participants who abstained from alcohol, 69 percent passed away. For moderate drinkers, it was only 41 percent. Even consuming heavy amounts of alcohol was better then taking none at all. Of those labeled as ‘heavy drinkers’, 61 percent had died.
