Today, August 2nd, is the 2nd annual IPA Day where we celebrate one of the most beloved styles of craft beer, the India Pale Ale. IPA Day was founded in 2011 by beer evangelists and social media personalities Ashley Routson and Ryan Ross as a way for craft beer enthusiasts to celebrate their love for IPAs. So how to celebrate? Drinking an IPA would be a start, but how about you take it a step further and drink all the different styles! There are American (east coast and west coast), English, Imperial, Black, Doubles IPAs, and even Triples out there to indulge in. So why settle for one?
About India Pale Ales: Though there are many stories about the origins of the IPA with most centering around early tradings between India and England that occurred around 1840. Brewers would have to increase the strength and amount of hops in their pale ales in order for the beer to survive some of the voyages. People fell in love with the intense hop flavor. Today the American Craft Beer movement has taken the IPA to new levels with many varieties of strength, flavors, and types of hops.
