Allegash Makes Us Crave Spring With "Pick Your Own" Release

23 February, 2016

Does this photo make you want to take a drive down the country road, pull off at the first fruit stand and load up on fresh fruit? It did for us. Allegash Brewing Co. located in Portland, Maine may be experiencing "three or four layer" temps right now but their "Pick Your Own" release on February 9th will have any East-coaster daydreaming of spring.

Pick Your Own begins as a sour red aged in an oak foudre with lactobacillus and pediococcus for 2 years. They then add fresh, local raspberries, cherries, strawberries, and blueberries and age it for an additional three months. The finished beer is a vibrant, ruby red with an aroma of ripe berries and vanilla, and flavor dominated by berries. Pick Your Own finishes dry with notes of bread crust and leaves a lingering tart juiciness.

The photos you are about to see are real, real delicious, so we can only imagine how this beer tastes...
